NASA plans to put a Fission Reactor on the moon and Mars

To add to the debate on the future of fission, the Technology Review by MIT has published an interesting article about NASA's plans to put a small fission reactor on the moon and (probably later) on Mars.

It interesting to see how active the field of applied nuclear research actually is. Despite the views from some, e.g. environmental activists, the need for energy in a world with increasing demands of welfare will need an active research in the field.

You can read more about NASA's "Fission Surface Power" program here.
